Higgins & Carter LLC is a multi-disciplinary group mental health practice located in the Chicago Loop that has been serving the Chicago community since 2010. We stayed open (virtually) throughout the pandemic and have continued to meet with existing clients as well as welcome new clients to the practice. We currently offer individual therapy, couples/relationship therapy, group therapy and psychological testing.

Staff Psychotherapist
We have openings for clinicians to provide one or all of the following: individual therapy, couples/relationship therapy, and group therapy. We currently are giving preference to clinicians who have experience in couples/relationship therapy. No clinician will be required to practice outside of their interest or expertise.
We currently offer both in-person and virtual telehealth services. Clinicians who are open to either in person, telehealth, or both modalities will be considered for the position.
This position is an Independent Contractor and reimbursed per clinical/billable hour for their work. Each open position will have the availability of 15 – 25 clinical/billable hours a week with some night and weekend requirements.
Open positions do allow for flexibility in schedule, but a flexibility that requires consistency. Once a schedule is agree upon, each clinician has their own office and office hours to routinely meet with clients.
H&C does not ask their clinicians to market themselves or complete billing. Our office completes insurance billing and follow up communication in house, and we communicate directly with referral sources as well as facilitate initial intake procedures.
Compensation
The position will be compensated on a part-time contractual basis. Clinicians will be allotted regular days and times to provide therapy as well as consistent office space.
Contractual pay is per billable hour. The hourly rate is competitive with area providers.
We have multiple contractual positions at the practice. Available positions will allow for 15-20 clinical hours a week. All positions will require some evening and/or weekend hours.
It is REQUIRED that qualified candidates:
Are fully licensed as a LCSW, LCPC, or Clinical Psychologist in the state of Illinois
Have an ability to work independently while also working collaboratively on a team
Demonstrate a desire to grow in their field of discipline and to continue to expand their therapeutic knowledge
Navigate basic technology such as a digital calendar, electronic notes/paperwork and email
Be thorough in communication and follow up with staff and clients
It is PREFERRED that qualified candidates:
Have experience with couples/relationship counseling. Preference will be given to candidates that have experience and interest in providing this modality
Have experience working in a private practice setting – it is not required to be credentialed with commercial insurance plans

Post-Graduate Fellowship Program
This is a 3 year entry level position for clinicians at the beginning of their career. We are seeking candidates that have recently graduated from their graduate program and are desiring to work in a private practice setting as they work towards getting all of the required hours to sit for the state licensing exam (LCSW or LCPC)
Job description:
Provide counseling to individuals, couples and/or families. We are looking for candidates who have interest/experience in providing individual psychotherapy, couples/relationship counseling, and/or group therapy. The primary focus of work will be in individual counseling and/or couples counseling with auxiliary group work (if desired).
The position also requires the individual to participate in weekly individual clinical supervision, weekly group supervision as well as routine administrative supervision. A candidate will receive weekly clinical supervision from a clinician within their discipline.
Compensation:
The position is a W-2 employee and will be compensated on an hourly/fee for service basis. The clinician will be allotted regular days and times to provide therapy as well as consistent office space.
Typically we have 1-2 Post-Graduate Fellowship positions open per year. The goal of this program is to support newer clinician(s) in their growth through providing direct and consistent clinical supervision, participation with inner office trainings, consistent client caseload to work towards completion of clinical hours and direct experience working within a group private practice.
It is REQUIRED that candidates meet the following criteria:
Completed a fully accredited graduate program in counseling psychology, clinical counseling or social work
Have completed a minimum of 1 supervised clinical internship with direct experience in providing individual, couple or group psychotherapy
An ability to complete paperwork and other administrative duties in a timely manner
Demonstrated capability to conduct themselves in a professional manner and within the ethical guidelines of their discipline
A dedication to work with a team of practitioners as well as a desire to continue training and collaboration in the field

There will be a two interview process, and we will ask for a writing sample (with identifying information removed) from past work and/or training experiences.
Neuropsychological Testing Externship Program
This is a one year commitment working under direct supervision of Dr. Tony Fletcher, PsyD., ABPP. Dr. Fletcher is a board-certified licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in the assessment of neurologically-based disorders, psychiatric disorders, and psychological problems. Dr. Fletcher trains 1-2 student psychologists per calendar year. All candidates will start in August with interviews beginning as early as January of the same calendar year.
