Telehealth Group Therapy
H&C offers a comprehensive group therapy program that provides psycho-educational skills groups. Our groups are designed to teach applicable skills to increase self-awareness, develop interpersonal effectiveness, and to better navigate emotional experiences in a supportive learning environment.
Each group will have a unique focus and every potential group participant will receive individualized attention through an initial consultation and then recommended to a group or groups that may be most beneficial.
Our team provides groups that are uniquely focused on promoting personal development. Groups may be time limited or on-going with open enrollment. Each group meets for 1 hour. Groups meet throughout the week and weekend day/evening times. We ask that participants commit to at least 4 sessions to ensure group consistency and to build on group cohesion. Group participants have the flexibility to pay for groups using insurance, out-of-pocket or sliding scale.
Current Session:
Wednesdays @ 5 pm

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
This group is facilitated virtually via Zoom
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) has been shown to be an effective treatment for a number of issues including anxiety, depression, addiction, impulsivity, and relationship problems. DBT is different than many other forms of treatment because it emphasizes learning and building concrete skills, coping mechanisms, and tools to manage problems in your life. The goal of the treatment is to help build skills to increase your effectiveness in managing difficult emotions and situations while also learning to identify behaviors that promote stability and health.
DBT skills training can be useful for those who are experiencing emotional distress such as anxiety, depression, or anger, as well as those having difficulty overcoming procrastination, interpersonal isolation, relationship conflict, or effectiveness.
Group DBT Skills Training
At our practice, groups meet weekly in either the daytime or evenings. Group skills training provides an opportunity to learn and practice DBT skills in a collaborative setting. Sessions will consist of the introduction of a new skill or continued reinforcement of a skill previously taught as well as review of homework assignments from the previous meeting. Throughout the session, there will be opportunities to explore and share personal reactions and experiences. The groups will address the four modules of DBT and are structured to allow participants to join at the beginning of a new module.

Acceptance and Change
Radical acceptance suggests acknowledging your present situation, whatever it is, without judging the events or criticizing yourself. Try to recognize that your present situation exists because of a long chain of events that began far in the past. Trying to fight the moment or deny whether the chain of events should have happened does nothing to change what has happened and can lead to more suffering. Read More
One-Mindfully
One-Mindfully (OM) is a DBT skill that helps us tap into and develop our ability to concentrate. OM is sustained attention on the present moment – think of the classic feeling of “being in the zone”. OM is easier to access when you’re naturally interested in something and a lot harder when you’re not. So how do you focus and inhabit “the zone” when the activity or task in front of you is not as compelling? Read More
Mindfulness Myths
Mindfulness opens the doors to acceptance, experience, and connection to ourselves and the world around us – myths and misconceptions only deprive us of these resources. Mindfulness allows us access to more complete and richer information and experiences that can guide us as we work to improve our quality of life. Read more…
The Royal Road to Dialectical Thought and Behavior
The first steps toward change in thought and behavior can be daunting and disorienting. We lose our footing and stumble, and as we desperately reach for something to hold on to, we fall all the way back to square one. Using these principles as handrails will facilitate your ascent toward dialectical thought and behavior. Read More
